Career paths are infrastructure, not destinations
A degree and a job keep the lights on. They are not the point.
A degree, a job, a title: I treat these as survival infrastructure. They keep the lights on while the real work gets built.
That framing removes a lot of drama. A path is not a verdict on who you are, so leaving one is not a betrayal. It is maintenance.
Break the long goal into parts, keep the infrastructure running, and spend the surplus on the thing only you would build.
